1. How much does it cost?

A one time registration fee of $39.95 is charged to build and maintain your profile. Your profile is a living document which you may update and change as often as you feel is necessary, at no added cost. The STAReport is a summary of your profile, containing your most recent entries; this will always be available for you to download or print.

Additional features will added over time and will always be optional because a small fee will be associated with each service. Individual services include:

New employment eligibility - You may choose to make your profile available for new employment candidate searches. For a monthly fee of $9.95, your capabilities identified in your STAReport will be searchable by potential employers. If your capabilities match their search parameters, they may purchase a copy of your STAReport, which contains your contact information.

Logbooks / Journals – This is the perfect format for documenting experience details, task and tooling tips, parts information, etc. This is available for free for the first year; thereafter it is priced at $9.95 per year. The information is always available and downloadable in Excel or Word formats, even if you choose to discontinue this service.

2. Who will see my information?

Only you will see your information, unless you choose to make yourself available for employment candidate searches. Candidate searches are tailored by each employer to suit their needs according to their own specific parameters. During these searches, the skill sets and training contained in your STAReport will be available for prospective employers to compare with others, but without any of your identifiable personal information. Employers who are interested in your qualifications may then purchase your entire STAReport.

3. Why should I join if I’m not looking for a new job?

Your training, skill sets and experience are what establish your value in the aviation industry. In fact, Aviation Skills Matrix goes the extra mile to ensure that all information entered into our database is covered under a variety of Internet and database security procedures.  SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates, server firewalls, 128-bit encryption and an array of other built-in security structures on our server guarantee that your personal information remains completely secure on our site.  Further security structures go beyond these to truly ensure that both your personal as well as financial information remain safe. All credit card and PayPal transactions are conducted by VeriSign/PayPal, who specializes in these services; Aviation Skills Matrix does not maintain or store your credit account numbers.

5. How long will it take to enter my information?

The time it takes is unique to each individual. For an industry veteran it will take considerably longer than it will for a student. ASM is designed so that you may build your profile as it is convenient for you. You may choose to complete it in one sitting or break it up into several sessions. However, once you have completed your initial profile, it is easily updated to reflect your ever growing training and experience.

6. How will this program help me start a career in aviation maintenance?

There is no need to be a certificated technician to begin building your profile. You may use ASM to document your training, and have it validated as you gain experience towards testing for certification. Your membership will also give you access to upcoming services, i.e. our electronic log book and availability for employment candidate searches.

For newly certificated technicians, starting your career by capturing your experience as you gain it and possessing an “always up to date” profile is just good practice. In today’s turbulent and highly competitive industry your value as a technician is in your training and skill sets. We provide a concise and comprehensive format for capturing current and previous training records, skills and proficiency levels which are equipment and JASC (Joint Aircraft System/ Component Code) specific. No other program does this. 12. My employer already uses Aviation Skills Matrix so why do I need my own ASM account?

The services purchased for you by your employer vary from what will be available to you through your individual membership. The employment search feature is not included for you with your company provided membership. ASM will also soon add other features, such as our electronic logbook/journal, that may be of interest to you and are only available through individual membership. Most importantly, with the purchase of your individual membership, you will own your training records and entire profile.
